PARTY GIRL

“This one woman show by the outstanding Lucy Heffernan is sure to be the next Fleabag…”

When your day goes from bad to worse, the only thing left to do is strap on a unicorn horn and play pass the f**cking parcel. Fairy Sprinkles may be the kids party entertainer of your dreams, but she is one bad fairy.

In this rock n’ roll monologue, created and performed by Lucy Heffernan and produced by Purple Tape Productions, all the glitzy hell of a kids birthday party explodes out on stage to challenge traditional feminine behaviour. A story about love and faith, Party Girl is an intimate, funny, brutal, and deeply moving work that speaks (and sings) directly to the audience.

First developed at MerrigongX in 2019, Party Girl toured to Crack Festival in Newcastle before being reimagined as a YouTube series during the 2021 Covid lockdown. It won the Weekly Award for Best Theatre/Physical Theatre at the 2023 Adelaide Fringe Festival before returning home to Sydney, playing at KXT on Broadway to critical acclaim.

Most recently, Party Girl spread her wings and flew to Scotland, where she performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at Summerhall in 2024 and was chosen for Mervyn Stutter's Pick of the Fringe.

Australia’s own version of ‘Fleabag’ is here, and it’s come with a rock’n’roll attitude and glittery fairy wings...

As it becomes clear that there are no magic spells to banish away experience and sadness, both writing and performance deepen and become more shaded, and Party Girl—with its deliberately ambiguous title—offers more than just a good time and party hats, but something more substantial and bittersweet.
